The Fishing Community Organizations Network-- FISHCON was Established in May 2019 with a vision—to bring hope and fishing related knowlage transformation to the coastal fishing communities. FISHCON has been working with small-scale tradiational fishing communities of East coast of India Capcities with skill development, Livelihoods and Capacity building for empower of Traditional Marine, estuarine, and back water fishing communities, inland fishing communities to assert their customary rights and reduce vulnerabilities, FISHCON Member Organizations of community based Organizations(CBOs) collectiwise their activities to ensure sustainables Livelihoods and sustainable governance, marine resources, empower women and girls in gaining focuse in the overall development processes and in asserting thire rights and deginity and activily engauge costal communities in acting with the fishers against costal depredation, alaination, and marginalisation . These families are over 15 lakh, have depending on the Sea and Coast in Andhra pradesh(AP),96% Fishers are —living in below poverty line, as reported by the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) Government of india in 2016. In this state 698 traditional coastal marine fishing community villages in costal belt. In the World’s marine fishing is most hazardous occupation as recognized by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The health and well-being of fishermen and their families are at the heart of our mission. Through our health support initiatives, we organize free medical camps, provide healthcare awareness, and offer essential medical aid to coastal communities. We work to ensure access to proper nutrition, maternal health support, and preventive healthcare to improve the overall well-being of fishermen and fisherwomen.
Women play a crucial role in the fisheries sector, and Fishcon India is dedicated to uplifting and empowering them. Our women development programs focus on skill training, entrepreneurship support, and financial independence. We provide self-help group (SHG) formation, vocational training in fish processing, and workshops on financial literacy to help women become self-reliant and contribute to their family income.
