Our Objectives
- 1. To collaborate with various organizations,establishments,societies,and associations across the Andhra Pradesh that are dedicated to the development of fishers and their communities, identifying and address key issues, facilitating amicable solutions and settlements, and advocating with relevant authorities to ensure timely resolutions .
- 2. To engage and negotiate with State, National and International trade and Development organizations, departments, scientific organizations, academics ,including world trade organization (WTO) Asia pacific economic cooperation (APEC) Association of southeast Asian nations (ASEAN),International finance corporation (IFC) UNFAO,ILO,UNDP,UNCC,UNIFEM, Govt.of india,govt.of Andhra Pradesh ,Etc to promote and develop Andhra Pradesh fishing trade globally.
- 3. To advocate with the government of Andhra Pradesh, government of India to protect the rights and acts of fishers in the context of WTO agreements, particularly with regard to the proposed ban on subsidies provided by the govt.of AP and Govt.of India to fishers
- 4. To conduct research, feasibility studies, project formulation and publication focused on fisheries and fish trade to prepare and disseminate reports, articles, educational materials, and policy briefs to governments, policymakers and other stakeholders, contributing to informed decision-making and the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
- 5. To develop and disseminate innovative technologies that minimize post-harvest losses, and organize awareness campaigns to improve catch quality, ultimately benefiting fishers, consumers and enhancing the country’s reputation in the International market
- 6. To establish and strengthen a domestic market promotion framework, filling the existing gap in institutional support, and enhancing market access,pricing,and trade opportunities for fishers and other stakeholders, thereby promoting sustainable domestic fish marketing
- 7. To mitigate the impacts of climate change and promote sustainable marine ecosystems through initiatives focused on marine waste management, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
- 8. To develop and implement programs for disaster risk reduction,preparedness,and response, aiming to enhance the resilience of fishing communities and coastal eco systems to natural disasters
- 9. To improve programs and initiatives that promote sea safety, navigation, prevent accidents, and protect the lives of fishers and other maritime stakeholders, through trainings,workshops,seminars,awareness and capacity-building efforts
- 10. To design and implement special programs for the empowerment and welfare of fisherwomen, focusing on their socio-economic development, capacity building, and participation in the fisheries value chain.
- 11. To empower fisherwomen through livelihood opportunities for their economic independence and self – sufficiency among fisherwomen by enhancing their skills and capacities in entrepreneurship, business management, and financial literacy
- 12. To establish academic and skill development institutions that caters to the educational needs of the fishing community, particularly women and vulnerable sections.
- 13. To support the member organizations through partnerships of FFPOs with financial institutions, NFDB,NABARD and government and private sector welfare organizations, herby addressing their financial requirements and enhancing their overall well-being
- 14. To support the member organizations to educate and empower fishers with knowledge of scientific fishing practices including deep-sea fishing, enabling them to adopt sustainable and efficient methods that enhance their livelihoods and conserve marine resources
- 15. To support the member organizations to educate, and guide, fishers in developing value-added products from fish, facilitating marketing of the products, and creating alternate employment especially for the women groups thereby enhancing their income and livelihoods.
